Publishing to WordPress, as drafts, without a plugin

· The InkApex team

Most of the websites people asked us about run on WordPress, so the first integration after the webhook is WordPress itself, through the REST API that every WordPress site already has.

Setting it up

In WordPress, open Users, then Profile, and create an application password for the account that should own the articles. In $InkApex, open Website, choose WordPress, and paste the site URL, the username and that password. Press Test connection: the engine asks WordPress who the password belongs to and whether that account can create posts, and tells you. The password is stored encrypted and never shown again.

What arrives

Each finished article is created as a post with its title, body, meta description as the excerpt, and slug. New posts get the status you chose: draft, so an editor reviews it, or publish, if you trust the pipeline for this site. When you edit an article here after it was sent, the same post is updated in place and keeps whatever status your editor gave it.

Why not a plugin

A plugin is one more thing to install, update and trust with your site. The REST API with an application password does the same job with a credential you can revoke in one click. If you need more than posts, the webhook is still there and carries the full article as JSON.
